Theoretically, 0,1 % of the world population of humans survives an unknown global disaster, what would they do?
These roughly 7 to 8 millions people would be spread all over the world, so different types of survivors would exist.
1) The islanders: well, no necessary on actual islands but those isolated to a certain level that the cause of the global disaster would not have reached them.
1a) dependent islanders: although surviving as an isolated group, they cannot exist without the rest of the world due to the fact of the need to get supplies from the world. This type of survivors will either turn to type 1b or dissolve as group.
1b) independent islanders: survival would be most likely to be linked by them to the own way of life and due to the dramatically changing world to the worst, these survivors would try to keep the old way and try to continue to exist as before. The only problem would be the ability to deal with other kinds of bigger troubles endangering the own existence.
2) Urban people: urbanized structures would dissolve and survivors would gather and form new communities or even cities.
3) The preppers: These sort of people were prepared because a global disaster was a possible scenario for them. Some would join type 2 and some would be more like type 1b.

All in all, it does not really matter as the music would be played in newly formed communities or cities. The really interesting question is what would they do? Would they try to continue the improper way of life we exercise currently? Living in places where nature is covered with stone and concrete? Would the chemical industry stay as is and flood the world with daily new chemicals and full of plastic? Would the political system be similar to any current political systems? Would there be a tendency to exclude minorities? Would religion play an important role? Would the kids struggle with the real world because of video games? Would woman be unequal due to the fact giving birth requires help of other communities members or men? Would the same sort of crime exist as it does now?
Nobody in the world could possible answer these questions but I think it is worth to know these questions in our daily life!
I dream of being part of the independent islanders but realistically speaking, I would not even know where such islands are. Would it be a community close to nature or more a modern (and successful) “Biosphere 4”?
